445,000 SF Behavioral Health Project, Mead Valley Wellness Village, Approved

Proud is an understatement. The 445,000 SF Mead Valley Wellness Village has been granted final approval by  Riverside County Supervisors. PMB along with Riverside University Health System. PMB, Riverside University Health System, Boulder Associate and Snyder Langston are eager to break ground in June.

This unprecedented project will transform healthcare by seamlessly integrating behavioral health treatment with medical care and social services. Slated for completion in 2026, the Village will feature a crisis residential behavioral health center for children and a Children’s Mental Health Urgent Care – both a first in Riverside County. The facilities will address a critical gap in local healthcare services.

Construction of the $580 million, 19.4-acre campus will begin in June at the intersection of Harvill Avenue and Placentia Avenue—an area with few other healthcare options. The RUHS Wellness Village is made up of facilities that provide a complete continuum of care, offering a helping hand to support individuals and families in their journey to a healthy and fulfilling lifestyle. The village provides an array of behavioral and physical wellness care, including urgent treatment, supportive housing, residential and outpatient care, education, and social services.

The 18-acre campus consists of five buildings complemented by various park settings, activity areas, and outdoor gathering spaces to connect the community with nature. The campus is designed around a central spine, with outdoor areas interconnected with buildings in a way that provides a sense of safety and connection throughout the neighborhoods.

The village boasts numerous recreational areas, quiet zones of respite, sports courts, a sensory garden, an amphitheater, a public market, a café, and a pet hotel. The peaceful, compassionate setting is designed to encourage personal and spiritual growth. Wellness Village welcomes people of all ages, races, and sexualities and provides a safe and supportive environment for their overall health and well-being.

Construction and operation of the Wellness Village will also bring economic benefits to the region. A January 2024 analysis by Beacon Economics shows the project will create hundreds of permanent jobs and generate millions of dollars in taxes and spending.

The Wellness Village will serve as a vital local resource and a model blueprint for integrated healthcare delivery across California. A public-private partnership, the project embodies a pioneering approach by combining medical care, behavioral health, and community support into a single cohesive environment.

The team for the project includes PMB as developer, Boulder Associates as architect, Snyder Langston as general contractor and PMB Real Estate Services as property manager.
